The challenge
In 2016, grid-tie rooftop solar was still a new idea across much of the Bikaner region. Net-metering — the mechanism that lets a rooftop system export surplus power back to the grid and draw credit on the electricity bill — had no local precedent. For a first project, that meant not just engineering a reliable system, but navigating an approval pathway that had never been walked in the district.
Our approach
PowerXP treated it as an engineering problem inside and out. We ran the site assessment and generation modelling, sized the array for the roof and load, and designed a mounting and electrical layout built to last in the region's heat and dust. Then we took ownership of the part most installers avoid: the DISCOM approvals and net-meter installation.
On 18 March 2016, we net-metered the very first rooftop solar on-grid project in the Bikaner region — becoming the pioneers of rooftop solar in the district.
Because we managed the full lifecycle — design, procurement, net-meter equipment, EPC and grid connectivity — there were no gaps between contractors to slow the approval down or leave the client chasing accountability.

The outcome

What began as an unprecedented approval became the standard route PowerXP now runs for grid-tie projects across homes, clinics, businesses and industrial sheds. The project is the reason clients drove to the team as "true, good and of competence with humility."
