The challenge
In 2016, grid-tied rooftop solar was still a new idea across much of the Bikaner region. Net-metering — the mechanism that lets a rooftop system export surplus power back to the grid and earn credit on the electricity bill — had no local precedent. For a first project, that meant not just engineering a reliable system, but navigating an approval pathway that had never been walked in the district.
Our approach
PowerXP treated it as an engineering problem end to end. We ran the site assessment and generation modelling, sized the array to the roof and load, and designed a mounting and electrical layout built to last in the region's heat and dust. Then we took ownership of the part most installers avoid: the DISCOM approvals and net-meter installation.
On 18 March 2016, we net-metered the very first rooftop solar on-grid project in the Bikaner region — becoming the pioneers of rooftop solar in the district.
Because we managed the full lifecycle — design, development, project management, EPC and grid connectivity — there were no gaps between contractors to slow the approval down or leave the client chasing accountability.
